2D Beam Calculations - Parameter THICKNESS and defining the force

Hi, i just found the parameter THICKNESS D in the physics solid mechanics window. By now i worked with a 2D Model to explain laminate behaviour and reduced my loads to a lineload N/m for a small area. Now that i know that this parameter makes out of my 2D Bar a 3D model for calculation im kind of confused for force calculations.

If i use a lineload with N/m and it makes the model to 3D, dont i have singularities then? Or does he even extrude the force? How does he work with this parameter?
I need to know this because if it doesnt act like a 2D Bar, the calculation of the induced force could be different.
Should i just let the value on 1 [m] and use lineloads if i dont need the exact values and just the percentage of delta 1. principle strain?

Thanks for the advice and explanation!

Special greetings
Wolfgang
