Following the manual but got the false result

Dear all,

It's weird that I followed every step in the manual but got a wrong result for thin layer diffusion model. I'm a COMSOL beginner user; would anyone who knows the reason tell me how to resolve it? I've attached the model result and what I did. Thanks a lot in advance!

nonlinear material in shell interface

Hello,

In 4.3 version, how can I use nonlinear material module in shell interface?
Unlike the structural mechanics interface, right-click the interface icon doesn't give me the option to choose hyperelastic material, for example.

TIC Nozzle Simulation

Hi, I am a starter here, and trying to simulate the Nozzle flow by the new feature of this edition, High Mach Number Physics.
I already came up with the contour of it and import it into the comsol. I thought it should be a pretty straightforward stuff to do the settings such as setting the material properties, boundary conditions, the inlet flow Mo=0 and set the outlet flow=supersonic, mesh and run. However it doesn't appear to be so easy, after I put the compute button then it appears: Invalid field variable in property Llimitfivar. I have tried to modified some parameters but it still doesn't work. Could anyone who has done that tell me what problem could it be and what should I be aware of?

Mie scattering in 4.3

Hello,
I have already seen some discussion about mid scattering of a gold nanosphere. But I the discussions I have consulted, no one has yet implemented a mie scattering program in Comsol 4.2 or 4.3 that works as the one in 3.5. Has this problem been solved yet? Can anyone post the correct program here?

electrostatic force cause displacement in parallel plate capacitor in COMSOL

Hi,

I have been designed a parallel-plate capacitor in COMSOL. Where one plate is connect to voltage of 10V and other one is connected to GND. and a air box is around the parallel plate capacitor.

As I know, if I applied a voltage in plate 1 then there will displace in plate one. I want to know how can I measure and plot this displacement of the plate. I have been stooped here for couple of week.

Would any one please help me in this regard.

Trouble making magnetic flux lines appear

Hey everyone,
I am trying to test the flux leakage from a solenoid (in DC) given a variety of core shapes. I am new to Comsol and, after a bit of playing, decided to simplify the problem to the field generated by a cylinder, and then to build the solenoid back up to make the analysis more thorough.
I am using the AC/DC module, and I have a cylinder with potentials at both ends. When running Comsol, the potential shows up on the cylinder, but I get no flux lines.
I've tried grounding one end, adding surface currents ( under boundary settings and subdomain settings and edge settings).
I feel I am missing something elementary here; as I mentioned, I am new to Comsol so any help would be appreciated!
Further (and finally), is there any way to create a helix or solenoid in 3.5? I found tutorials for 4.2 but the interface is completely different so I have no idea how to start it.

Boundary flux for DG time dependant problems

I am trying to solve the time dependant advection equation w_t+ grad.(uw) = 0 with periodic boundary conditions. I am using DG to solve this problem. For periodic boundary condition, I want to specify the boundary flux through flux/source and periodic condition interface. How does one enter the flux? I am using weak form PDE.

Assigning Materials to the solids in model developed

Sir,

I was trying to assign material to the solids in the model. I am facing difficulties in assigning materials as the model kept on changing different colours and I am not sure whether my selection is correct or not.

And, I have created a pipe layout using various extrude and revolve commands, should I select each operation as a seperate solid for assigning material or can I select everything at once? I am facing problem as each extrude or revolve operation's output is acting as a different solid while assigning.

In this article, I am very interesting "using COMSOL part" because I exactly want to do same thing.
however, for my bad COMSOL skills, I cannot do it.

Non - Isothermal Flow (nitf)

Sir,

I have assigned materials to the domain elements that are required. And, in the step of inspecting the physics part after assigning materials, it is again asking for domain selection. What does that mean?

So for Non-Isothermal Fluid flow (nitf), is it okay of I select the fluid (ie.. water in my case) or should I select solids also. as heat transfer takes place from solid to fluid and viceversa.

i'm a beginner in comsol , and i don't know how to simulate dielectrophoresis. i want to position a SWNT between electrodes with the help of dielectrophoresis and i want to observe the distribution of electric field intensity around the electrodes also the distribution of dielectrophoretic force.
so please suggest me the way in comsol, explain me the procedure from beginning. also let me know any paper if available.

Meshing

When I apply "Physics Controlled Mesh" for the model made on COMSOL 4.3. I am getting a few error messages named

1. Out of Memory for meshing
2. Not able to mesh some domains, try changing to triangular meshing

Can you tell me what changes and corrections I have to make? Model attached below...

Using saved solution Comsol v4.1

hi,

I want to use the saved solution for the initialization of the second one. for example I solve my problem with a given boundary condition and I want to increase the boundary value for the next modeling. But for the new study I want to use the previous solved results as the initialization values of the new one. how can I do it ??

I have to press the Update Solution button ??

convert imported *.stl into solid

I am importing a rather complex geometry into COMSOL from Solid Works. After some tinkering with the import controls, I managed to import the object but I do not think COMSOL recognizes it as a solid. When using the physics, I can only click on edges, not faces.

What do I need to do to 'knit to solid' or make the object into a solid as recognized by COMSOL. Any direction would help a lot.

Should I maybe open it in a different software and convert it into a solid there?

Face Cannot Be parameterized

I try to import a STL file to Comsol 4.3a but this error appeared "Face Cannot be parameterized"?
