Relative Tolerance

Hi

I have done some simulations and the intial values used are the default ones. I was wondering when does initial values are important? Is it important to set the relative tolerance for a problem involing linear thermoelasticity and heat transfer? Although my simulation converges at much more lower values than the relative tolerance.
