Hello Comsol Community,
I'm new to Comsol and modeled a U-shaped pipe in a concrete block.
Cold water (1°C) flows through the pipe and the warmer concrete (11°C) surrounding it warms up the water inside the pipe.
I used the "pipe flow" and the "heat transfer in solids" physics. Everything worked ok.
Now to the problem:
I wanted to add a PE-layer for the pipe and used the wall layer add-on within the pipe flow module (wall heat transfer).
After I added the PE-layer the temperature inside the pipe decreased way too much.
To test the problem I changed the thermal conductivity of the PE-Pipe to the value of the concrete 2,3 W/(m*K) so there should almost be no temp. difference between the model with and without the PE-layer, yet there is.
I hope somebody can help me out.
The two model files with and without the PE layer are attached.
Thank you!
